Artists Guild Unlimited (AGU) is looking to expand its presence in the community by growing its membership and increasing the scope of its mission statement. From January 30 – February 6th, members of the AGU, local tourism, economic development and Morgan City Main Street Program officials met with non-profit consultant, Bill Winkley, of Thibodaux, LA, to devise a strategy to make the AGU an even more viable organization in St. Mary Parish.
On the agenda, was a membership drive with future plans in the works to host more art-focusedevents throughout the Parish. Included in those plans are street dances, poetry readings and live musical performances.
The main goal of the workshop was to develop a 5 year strategic plan. In the 5 year plan the group decided that the AGU should address 3 main issues or goals:
1) TO PROMOTE PARTICIPATION IN APPROPRIATE ART FORMS
2) TO STRENGTHEN THE ARTISTS GUILD UNLIMITED (AGU) THROUGH BEST-PRACTICE ORGANIZATIONAL DEVELOPMENT
3) TO SECURE FINANCIAL STABILITY AND SUSTAINABILITY FOR AGU
Committees have been appointed to tackle each of the goals. So, please be aware that many changes and additions will be going on with AGU but they are all for the advancement of the AGU and the Everett Street Gallery to better serve our members and community.
